Although there is increased awareness about animal tested products, household cleaning products and companies that do not test are few and far between. With cosmetics and toiletries there is the added concern of harsh chemicals and the increased desire for organic products. However this has not been extended to the household market yet. People seem to be more worried about the germ killing abilities of these products rather then their ethical backgrounds.

Unfortunately germs and bacteria become immune to these chemicals rather quickly so these products need to be improved regularly meaning more animals are required for testing. Constantly finding and testing new chemicals improves the germs immunities while reducing our own as we do not get to meet so many of them. For example if kitchen cleaners kill 99.9% of germs only 0.1% (i.e. the "tougher" bacteria) are being used to build up our own immunitues so if/when we do encounter higher numbers of bacteria we are more likely to become ill. By using more natural products we can kill bacteria without creating stronger generations, build up our natural immunites whilst using only chemicals that are known and understood.
